A Wedding at The Signet Center in Chesapeake, Virginia

If you’re planning a wedding at The Signet Center in Chesapeake, Virginia, you already have a beautiful space to work with. Now comes the fun part: making the day feel like you.

I’ve photographed weddings at The Signet Center, and what I love most about this venue is how much room there is to create. From those quiet getting ready moments to polished portraits and a reception that finally lets everybody loosen up, there are so many opportunities to tell the full story of your wedding day.

And that is always my goal.

Not just pretty pictures.

Your story.

Black-and-white wedding photos of a bride and groom kissing and embracing outdoors on a walkway, bride in flowing veil and gown.

Wedding Photos That Feel Like You

One thing I never want my couples to feel is like their wedding day turned into one long photoshoot.

Of course, we’re going to make time for the portraits.

The dress.

The details.

The wedding party looking GOOD.

The two of you together.

All of that matters.

But some of my favorite photographs happen when nobody is thinking about the camera at all.

Your mom seeing you dressed for the first time.

Your friends hyping you up before the ceremony.

That look your partner gives you from across the room.

Your family laughing during speeches.

And the moment the dance floor officially gets out of control.

Those are the photographs that bring the whole day back.

Photographing Weddings at The Signet Center

The Signet Center gives us a lot of flexibility when it comes to wedding photography.

We can create classic portraits, fun wedding party images, romantic couple portraits, reception photographs and some of those more dramatic images that deserve a spot on the wall.

The key is having a photography timeline that gives us enough breathing room to create without making you feel like you are constantly being pulled away from your guests.

That is something I help my couples plan before the wedding.

Because when the timeline makes sense, you get better photographs and you actually get to enjoy the party you spent months planning.

And Yes, We’re Going to Photograph the Details

You spent too much time making decisions about flowers, colors, invitations, table settings, attire and all those little touches for them not to make it into your wedding gallery.

I love capturing those details because they help tell the story of what your wedding actually looked and felt like.

Years from now, your album should take you right back to that room.

Wedding prep collage: rings, white gown, black dress shoes, groom in tux, white tux jacket, bride with bouquet; Abound on shoe.

Then It’s Time to Party

Reception photography is where things really start getting good.

Once the formalities are done and everyone makes their way to the dance floor, I want the photographs to feel like the energy in the room.

Movement.

Laughter.

Family.

Friends.

A little chaos.

Maybe somebody’s auntie taking over the dance floor.

Those photographs matter just as much to me as the polished portraits we created earlier in the day.

A wedding gallery should have both.

Bride and groom dance, hug, and celebrate with cheering guests at a lively wedding reception in a bright ballroom.

My approach is a mix of beautiful, intentional portraits and the real moments happening around you throughout the day.

I’ll tell you what to do with your hands.

And then I’ll give you space to actually experience your wedding.

Because at the end of all of this, I don’t just want you to remember what your wedding looked like.

I want you to remember exactly how it felt.
